01 — The tool

Extract audio from MP4 and WebM video files

The free Loudness.ai video to audio tool saves a video's soundtrack as a separate recording. Open an MP4 or WebM file, listen to its audio and choose MP3 or WAV for the download. Your video remains available, while the new audio file can be used in a podcast, transcription workflow or editing project.

Use MP4 to MP3 when you need a compact listening copy, or choose WAV for further audio editing. The output contains the sounds present in the video's audio track, including voice, music and background sound. To keep only a short passage, open the extracted recording in the Audio Cutter.

02 — How it works

How to extract audio from video online for free

  1. Choose an MP4 or WebM video

Open a video that contains an audio track. Files can be up to 500 MB and one hour long. Wait for the soundtrack to load, then play it to check you selected the correct recording.

  2. Set MP3 or WAV output

Choose MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps, or WAV at 16 or 24 bits. Select the sample rate and channel layout to match the way you plan to use the audio.

  3. Preview and download the audio

Listen to speech, music and transitions before exporting. Give the audio file a recognizable name and download it. Keep the source video if you may need to synchronize the recording with the picture later.

03 — Practical uses

Video soundtracks for podcasts, interviews and editing

Interviews and spoken video

Save a filmed interview as audio for reviewing answers or preparing a podcast. Remove lengthy pauses with the Silence Remover after extraction. Listen around each shortened pause to retain a natural speaking rhythm.

Lessons and recorded talks

Make an audio listening copy of a lesson, talk or presentation. If you need separate topic files, use the Audio Splitter on the extracted recording and place the boundaries between complete explanations.

Sound for editing projects

Export WAV when moving a video soundtrack into another audio project. Keep the original timing if it must match the picture. Use Audio Enhancer when speech needs background noise cleanup after extraction.

04 — Frequently asked questions

Extract Audio from Video questions

Can I convert MP4 to MP3?

Yes. Choose an MP4 video with an audio track, select MP3 and export the soundtrack. The download is an audio file that you can play or edit separately from the video.

Which video formats can I open?

The tool accepts MP4 and WebM files. The browser also needs to support the audio encoding inside the video. Check the loaded preview before choosing the export settings.

Does extraction separate voice from music?

It saves the video's soundtrack, including any voice, music and other sounds already mixed together. It does not isolate individual speakers or instruments from that soundtrack.

Does choosing WAV improve the original audio quality?

WAV is useful for further editing, but it does not restore details lost in the video's original audio. Choose your format for the next step in the project and keep a copy of the source video.
