01 — The tool
Change audio pitch without changing speed
The free Loudness.ai Audio Pitch Changer moves every note in a recording up or down by the same interval. Transpose audio to a more comfortable singing range, try a different key for a backing track or compare how a musical phrase sounds in another register. Timing stays the same.
Choose an interval from −12 to +12 semitones. A change of +2 moves C to D; −12 moves a note down one octave. The setting applies to the entire recording, so voices and instruments shift together. To change a recording's pace while preserving its notes, open the Audio Speed Changer.

02 — How it works
How to transpose MP3 and WAV audio online for free
Open the track
Choose your audio and listen to its original pitch. If you are preparing a backing track, identify the key or passage that needs to fit your voice or instrument.
Choose a semitone shift
Use the slider, plus and minus controls or a preset. Start with a small interval, such as −2 or +2 semitones, and prepare the changed version.
Compare and save
Switch between Original and Preview at the same passage. Check the voice and instrument tone, then choose MP3 or WAV and export the transposed recording with a new filename.
03 — Practical uses
Transpose backing tracks, songs and practice passages
Backing tracks for singers
Lower or raise a track to suit the melody's highest and lowest notes. Test a short verse and chorus before choosing the interval. Use the Song Key Finder when you need help identifying the original key.
Instrument practice
Match a practice recording to the key used by your ensemble or exercise. Each semitone shifts the whole recording by one step on the chromatic scale, while its tempo and duration remain unchanged.
Comparing musical registers
Try an octave or a smaller shift to explore a passage's range. Listen closely to vocals and sustained instruments. Keep a copy of the original so you can compare tone rather than only the new notes.
04 — Frequently asked questions
Audio Pitch Changer questions
Does the pitch changer correct individual wrong notes?
The selected interval moves the whole recording equally. It does not detect and correct individual notes or retune only a singer. Use it to transpose a track or change its overall register.
How many semitones make an octave?
Twelve semitones make one octave. Select +12 to move the recording one octave up or −12 for one octave down. A smaller value gives a smaller musical interval.
Can I change the pitch of one clip?
The shift applies to the file opened here. Save the passage with the Audio Cutter first, then transpose that clip. This is useful when you want to compare a short musical phrase.
Why can a large pitch shift sound different?
Moving a recording far from its original register also changes its tonal texture. Compare a few intervals and listen to consonants, attacks and held notes. Choose a smaller shift if it suits the track better.
