How are RMS and peak level different?
RMS describes average signal energy. Peak level shows the highest point. A recording can have a low average level and still contain sharp peaks, so increasing its volume without checking both can cause clipping.
Read the level history
Use the RMS and peak plot to find quiet passages, sudden jumps, and uneven recordings. The near-full-scale sample count is a warning sign to inspect the audio; it does not prove that distortion is audible.
